With the recent increase in our mortgage interest rates, some buyers are alarmed. But, lets take a look over the years. Here are a few snapshots for you to consider:
1970s - Average 30-year fixed mortgage: 9.03%
1980s - Average 30-year fixed mortgage: 12.7%
1990s - Average 30-year fixed mortgage: 8.12%
2000s - Average 30-year fixed mortgage: 6.29%
2010s - Average 30-year fixed mortgage: 4.08%
As of 6/16/2022, the average interest rate is at 5.78% for a 30-year fixed mortgage.
